Garrett Drew Ellis

Writer, End of Life Doula, Father, Believer.

I am an end-of-life doula, legacy writer, caretaker, father of four, and fellow pilgrim who has learned—often slowly—that suffering does not have the final word.

My life has been shaped by early loss, long grief, and seasons where survival itself felt like a quiet act of faith. From a young age, I learned what it means to live with unanswered questions, deep sorrow, and the kind of pain that does not resolve neatly. I have also learned what it means to be met there—by the presence of God, by the kindness of others, and by a comfort that did not remove suffering but sustained me through it.

The G.O.A.C — The God of All Comfort — was born from these lived realities and from the words of 2 Corinthians 1:3–5:

“God comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”

This ministry is not an attempt to explain suffering away or rush people toward tidy conclusions. It is a commitment to presence. To listening. To honoring pain without despairing, and to bearing witness—gently and honestly—to the hope found in Christ.

I am currently pursuing theological studies with the hope of continuing this work within the life of the Church, alongside my calling as a writer and caregiver. Through writing, teaching, and accompaniment, my desire is to offer compassion, clarity, and companionship to those who are weary, grieving, or walking the long road of suffering.

In time, this work will also support the creation of a hospice home and counseling center—places where dignity, faith, and comfort are not afterthoughts, but foundations.

If you are suffering, caring for someone who is, or simply searching for language for your pain, you are not alone here.

You are welcome.
